Yutori Desu ga Nani ka Episode 1 First Look
Kudo Kankuro’s latest series after Gomen ne Seishun! (<–eternal love for this one!) tells of three men’s lives that haven’t much in common, except being born in 1987..and being extremely good-looking too! Oh, and a part of Yutori generation, of course.
Yutori education refers to a Japanese policy of reducing class time and allowing stress-free environment for the students; while many found the changes (gradually they became more and more) revitalizing, others considered it a main factor on the students’ scholastic ability drop.
The series “mock” that very criticism (“typical Yutori!”) and focus on the ups and downs of Sakama Masazaku, (Okada Masaki) a company worker assigned to different divisions each season, Yamaji Kazutoyo (ikemen of ikemens aka Matsuzaka Tori) an elementary school teacher and Michigami Maribu (Yagira Yuuya) a boob-scammer. lol okay, boob-scammer is not exactly the proper definition but the first episode didn’t show as much about Michigami as it did with the other two, so I’m just gonna leave it like this! ;p
Sakama and Yamaji meet after “renting” the same ojisan (a service where you pay someone for an hour to listen to you/give you advice etc) where they talk about their work issues and how that affect them in their everyday lives; they form an unexpected friendship where they share their daily routines and any event worth mentioning, such as Yamaji getting a confession from a teacher trainee and getting all excited about it. (you need some serious suspension of disbelief to swallow that one like, yeah. Are we supposed to believe that someone with Yamaji’s appearance is novice in love? ORLY?! lol seriously though, Tori is doing a great job as the awkward teacher.)
After a disastrous night in Sakama’s first night working in his company’s restaurant, Yamaji attempts to help him but that leads into Sakama getting drunk, and Michigami manages to money-scam both of them by directing them to a “cool boobs” place.
There were some intelligent-funny moments (lol, I think my favorite was the one with Michigami’s subordinate that tested his boob-strength voice in order to attract people to scam, only to fess up that he’s actually a feminist and hates doing that!) but there was also a moody, mundane air (probably has to do with the shadowy picture too) so it seems like it’s gonna follow that mixed route which I’m definitely here for.
Onwards to episode 2 then!
