Please Love The Useless Me Episode 6
Dame na Watashi ni Koishite Kudasai Ep 6 Synopsis : Michiko has doubts about her feelings towards Daichi.
Recap – Summary :
Daichi wonders if his proposal of living together will trouble Michiko, but she assures him he’s fine. He walks her home and he kisses her goodnight, as Ayumu makes fun of her silly expression later. Michiko tells him that she will be moving with Daichi soon and Ayumu is surprised at how fast things are moving between them.
The next day, Ayumu tells Michiko that most of her pyjamas are ruined, and Akira also advises her to get a new pair of underwear; Michiko decides to do so as Daichi is somehow caught up in all this- he seems happy until he gets a text that Akira notices, and she later tells Michiko that Daichi might be hiding something.
Daichi reveals to Michiko that both his parents ar hospitalized and his mother needs extra help right now, so he won’t be able to move with her as soon as he wanted to; he apologizes to her and she’s having deja vu from her previous boyfriend similar “problems” but she decides to trust Daichi.
Her trust starts to waver though, as the president tells her that Daichi managed to close a big deal and he seems to have a way with words.
Ayumu asks Michiko if she really likes Daichi, and she replies that she does, since it’s her boyfriend, while he thinks that this kind of logic is a bit odd.
Michiko meets Haruko the next day, in the restaurant they ate together the last time they saw each other; Haruko talks about Ayumu’s brother and how she still loves him even after his death, and she asks Michiko if she has someone who she loves; Michiko seems reluctant to reply but they have to cut their meal short, as Haruko needs to leave.
Akira and Michiko have a conversation about the meaning of love and they conclude that they will become wise about it with time- Michiko says that she has to move out from Ayumu’s apartment soon and Akira invites her to stay with her until she moves in with Daichi.
Michiko later informs Ayumu about staying together with Akira and then asks him about Haruko but he is not having it, and talks about her moving out from there and how he asked Terii to help her.
The next day, Ayumu helps Michiko to pack her things and throw away unnecessary stuff- Akira asks her why she would hold on to the meat pillow, and Michiko says that it holds dear memories to her. She thanks Ayumu for everything, who urges her to hurry and leave before traffic emerges in the streets.
The next morning, Akira tells Michiko that she doesn’t know how to cook and they both reminisce about Ayumu’s great cooking.
Daichi visits Ayumu’s tearoom, and Michiko is scared that Ayumu might make him feel uncomfortable- she manages to “stop” Ayumu’s interrogation but Daichi is being treated to an omelette with the words “swindler” on it. He pretends it’s fine, even though he notices how close Ayumu and Michiko are bickering.
After Daichi leaves, Michiko accuses Ayumu for his shady behavior but he tells her that she has been having similar “swindler” thoughts about Daichi too- Michiko admits she did, but in the low point she came to be lately in her life, having someone as gentle as Daichi liking her, was the highlight for her and she admits that she actually came to love him. Ayumu encourages her to keep following her heart then, and then walks her back home where he tells her that if she ever has a problem, she should call him. (or the police!)
The next day, Michiko’s company visits the set of the tv station that Daichi made the deal with to advertise the company’s product, but there has been a mistake with the delivery and it seems like the product won’t arrive in time; Michiko however pleads with Minami, the presenter, to wait for them to find a sample product available in nearby retail stores and advertise it before the program ends, and everyone heads out to search.
The time is ticking and everyone meets a dead end, but Michiko manages to locate one, but a Chinese customer has it in her cart ready to check it out- Michiko doesn’t know how to proprely communicate with her but Ayumu appears at that time, and persuades that woman (much to Michiko’s surprise!) to hand it over to Michiko, who has to pay the double amount but doesn’t mind.
She makes it in time, and their company’s product is being advertised successfully- Michiko picks up the phone for Daichi who is on television at that time, and finds out that he was telling the truth all along, since it was his mother that called.
Everyone congratulates Michiko for having found the last product available at the time, but she says that she had help from a good friend, otherwise she wouldn’t have made it in time.
In the tearoom, Kazuo notes that Michiko is similar to Ayumu’s grandma who disagrees with that statement- Kazuo advises him not to be so rough as he might end up like him, alone.
Michiko visits the tearoom, and thanks Ayumu for his help- he proposes to make something for her to eat with his new toaster oven as Michiko happily accepts but Daichi calls her to meet.
He apologizes to her for calling her so abruptly, but he has something important to tell her- he promises to take care of her and asks her to marry him. Michiko accepts and after she returns to Akira’s apartment she can barely believe it.
Reflection Corner :
So it finally seems like Daichi has true feelings for Michiko, but he’s feeling threatened by Shunin’s constant presence in her life so he resorts to propose marriage to her that quick. Is this gonna work? I’m inclined to say A BIG FAT NO lol
Michiko likes Daichi but not enough to be sure about her feelings or trust him completely, so I suppose the proposal will fall apart quite soon; will she realize her feelings for Shunin before it’s too late? I am not sure if it’s 8 or 9 episodes overall, but it does seem a bit of a fast leap if (more like, when) that happens in the last episode, but oh well.
Kazuo’s remark to Ayumu about Michiko, came out after constant observation (Kazuo is always there afterall haha, watching others) and he has realized that Ayumu smiles a lot more around Michiko, even if that means being bemused by her silly shenanigans.
So the triangle is pretty much like this : Daichi likes Michiko but he might be latching onto her too soon because he’s looking to settle down or “win over” Ayumu, Michiko likes Daichi but not enough and she has developed feelings for Ayumu and is dependent on him and the only one she trusts completely, and Ayumu might actually be leaving his left-over feelings for Haruko behind, as he now sees Michiko in a different (more romantic) light. Oh boy. Somebody’s gonna have to taste the rejection pie!
Onwards to episode 7 then, bring the pie out already!
