Please Love The Useless Me Episode 5
Dame na Watashi ni Koishite Kudasai Ep 5 Synopsis : Despite things progressing with Daichi, Michiko finds herself a bit jealous over Ayumu’s relationship with Haruko.
Recap – Summary :
Michiko is ridiculed by a co-worker for dating a younger man but Kadoma says it’s because of jealousy and she shouldn’t worry about it. She later meets Daichi for their second date, who asks her to go to his home for coffee; Michiko thinks it might be a bit early but before she’s ready to reply positively, Daichi receives a text, and he says they should drink their coffee in a coffee store afterall.
After she returns home, she finds Ayumu watering a near-withered plant, and when she asks why he would go to that trouble, he explains to her that this particular flower, was his brother’s favorite- Michiko tells him she knows that his older brother was married to Haruko as Akira told her about it. Ayumu says he would hope to pick his brother’s ability of being able to revive withered plants.
The next day, Michiko meets with Akira who tells her she shouldn’t waste time and visit Daichi’s place, since the beginning of love is the most enjoyable time. In the office, Daichi helps Michiko with some files and then invites her to go somewhere together, the first weekend she doesn’t have to work part-time in the tearoom.
On her way home, Michiko meets Haruko who’s out for flower deliveries and they end up having lunch together- Haruko sees a man who reminds her of Ayumu’s older brother and tells Michiko that Ayumu would always pretend he didn’t need his brother attention but secretly he was happy that his brother took care of him, since he has a gentle heart. She hopes that Ayumu will find someone and get married one day.
Michiko feels bad for Ayumu as she thinks he likes Haruko, and invites him out to have dinner together- Ayumu is reluctant at first but they end up going in the same place they did the day he hired her for the part time job.
Ayumu is surprised to hear that Michiko had lunch with Haruko and ends up drinking quite a bit, as Michiko recounts all the things she told her about him and his relationship with his older brother- Ayumu says in his dizzy state that he was troubled his brother was taking care of him, since he didn’t want to worry him in his rebellious state back then. Michiko makes a correlation with an old fairy tale, and cites Ayumu as a mean old grandpa, and she will be his ally; she asks him if he’s in love with Haruko but Ayumu has fallen asleep. Michiko takes Ayumu home, and then reads a book on how to take care a Christmas rose.
The next day, Ayumu wakes up and finds a note from Michiko, who calls him to let him know she’s gonna keep being “his ally” before she hangs up, as he finds that someone has put some sort of medicine on his rose.
In the office, Nakajima asks Michiko what she will do for Valentine’s day, and Michiko thinks what would be a suitable gift for Daichi; after Ayumu makes her an omelette and Kazuro remarks that through cooking you can convey your feelings, she asks Ayumu to teach her properly, so she can make one for her boyfriend.
Ayumu helps her make a special omelet, and thinks her first try isn’t that bad; Michiko says that having a cooking partner is very enjoyable which makes him remember a moment with his brother and Haruko. Michiko then calls him outside to happily show him there’s a new bud that has developed in the rose.
The next day, Michiko sends a text to Daichi to go to his place and cook for him, and he’s happy to hear that- Shibata arrives at his apartment and puts in action whatever Ayumu taught her, but the omelette doesn’t turn out good. Daichi however thinks it’s delicious and she reveals that she asked a co-worker to instruct her. She reveals the truth to him, about how she’s staying at Ayumu’s and works there to repay her debt; she thinks that Daichi might dump her for learning the truth but he’s glad she was honest with him and he kisses her. Michiko thinks that this might be the night, but after Daichi receives a text, he tells her that he will take her home, so her “guardian” won’t worry, and she can stay overnight another day.
Michiko calls Akira and lets her know what happened, and then asks her if it’s okay to support Ayumu and Haruko, since she wants to see him happy; Akira says that it’s alright, and she’s a good person for thinking like this.
Michiko returns to the tearoom and is ready to give Ayumu obligatory chocolate for the day, but finds Haruko there; she leaves both of them alone, while sensing some kind of jealousy and wonders if that is from her sympathy or something more- she decides she has to find an apartment as she can’t keep staying there. Meanwhile, Haruko tells Ayumu that Michiko has been mailing her to ask her instructions on how to properly take care of the Christmas rose.
The next day, Daichi visits the tearoom and asks for an omelette; everyone recognizes him as Michiko’s boyfriend, as Kazuo notices that Ayumu seems a bit discontent by Daichi’s remark that the omelette was delicious, just like the same Michiko made for him.
Michiko and Ayumu bump into each other at the bathroom and she tells him that she needs to find an apartment; Ayumu understands and tells her she should.
The next morning, Michiko is ready to eat the breakfast Ayumu made for both of them, and realizes that it’s gonna be sad when she’s living alone and won’t have Ayumu’s company but she’s still determined to find an apartment. Ayumu tells her, that he will keep helping her if she meets unfortunate men, and then jokes that she found her lingerie outside his shop and that will ruin its reputation.
Michiko meets Daichi later, and tells him of her decision to move out; he proposes to her to live together, as that will save both of them money.
Reflection Corner :
Well, there were some interesting developments this episode; Ayumu might slowly start falling for Michiko, as her supporting and kind-hearted (at times goofy but whatever!) nature has rubbed off on him.
He was happy to see her going out of her way to take care of the rose, and he was visibly displeased with Daichi visiting the tearoom and his remark about Michiko.
Michiko is also showing signs that she has started relying a tad too much on Ayumu; she does want him to be happy and she was also a bit annoyed when she realized that Haruko was there at night, despite previously saying Akira that she would support them together. WHAT’S IT GONNA BE GIRL, it’s one or the other?!
So it looks like we’re on the “hmm is it that feeling or not?”-phase with both our leads, but there’s Daichi in the middle too- he still confuses me as to whether his feelings are genuine and the mystic texts he received didn’t help at pointing at that either. Is there some sort of secret or something else? Hmm.
Onwards to episode 6 then!
