Happy name day Kwon ~

It’s not his birthday, it’s his name day πŸ˜›

If you are confused, it’s a part of the Greek religion and traditional to celebrate people’s name days and today’s it’s Kwon’s o/

I wont be revealing his real name, but I can say it starts with a “K” (you can google search, which names are celebrated in Greece today, but I want to make it mysterious).

Happy Name Day Kwon from cheerleaders AOA and awkwardΒ EXO’s Sehun in the background ^_^

Happy name day, Kwon-ssi (or K-ssi). I guess you share the same name with half the country ( an imperial name, for sure!)
Be well and have fun ( and lots of presents for you!)

Thanks a lot 2xharia! K-ssi XD Sadly yes (sadly yes)! It was an explosive night even though the presents weren’t many, they were enough to treat my friends and give life to our livers!! πŸ˜€

You should treat your liver (and all the other organs for that matter) with caution and affection. You’ll be needing it for the years to come. Trust me in that…we do pay the price when we’re older, πŸ™‚ Have you and miss Hana watched the Eurovision Song Contest?? Got very disoppointed in the outcome of the voting (system, maybe?) πŸ™

Late reply and i’m sorry for that, it was a tough week and i focused on articles when i wasn’t focusing on uni! I treat my best friend liver quite well lately, only when it’s needed i torment it ;D But i’m not the greatest friend of eurovision, but you discussed it with my co-author ;D The only song i remember liking from eurovision was Cool Vibes from an Estonian girl-band a few years ago ;D

Kwon doesn’t like Eurovision, but I watch it every year. It used to be a bog deal in Greece especially the years we got good places and no1. I loved Italy’s song (my friends voted for it), Sweden was ok but for me 1st place Italiaaaaa πŸ˜› Russia didn’t make an impression to me, it was nice but not a melody I can remember. Georgia’s song was nice too and Poland’s. Spain was lovely but only got the 21th place, like seriously???????? Which songs did you like^^?

…and finally, 12 points go to Italy! 12 points pour l’Italie! Anyone who’s not hearing-impaired was able to listen which song was the best last night! I have thousands conspiracy theories on the issue ( EBU is the big bad wolf here along with the swedish production company) but, even when we did actually break our voting “alliances”, it was still not good enough to beat the Nordic bloc
I’ve been watching Eurovision since childhood and I’ve survived all the kitsch, the awful voices and very(very, very) bad english but politics have finally broke my spirit. Last night the artists did an amazing job but let’s be honest: Sweden sent an average american pop song to compete. That’s why they used a massively high profile technology ; to distract us. Russia, France, Albania, Greece, Serbia, Spain they all had better performers. Belgium, Austria and Estonia were artistic and unique. Even Australia had a better pop song. So why have Sweden won, then? It’s beyond me…:-(

The way countries vote it’s really annoying. The countires of the north vote each other and when we give Cyprus 12 points, they all go “boo”, like seriously? I’m glad this year we didn’t give 12 points to Cyprus but to the best song (Italy). I think every year there are some songs that get the publicity and people somehow notice only them and vote for them. I don’t know what went wrong this year, is it that the big 4 only get to perform to the finals their song haven’t been heard like the others? Sweden had a nice song, handsome singer and the graphics = Eurovision. I don’t know why they never give Italy points, what else must they do? For example when Dima Bilan competed with “never let you go” in Greece, for me it was the best song but he didn’t win and then we won with “believe” which wasn’t the best song of that year, but I think they gave it to Bilan because he had to win at some point. There so many things happening that we don’t know, but I want to believe that tevery year the winning song is worth winning, it’s just sometimes the best ones get only in the first five. Which country are you from?^^

Tell me about it…my bf is Cypriot (btw, his name is also Constantine πŸ˜‰ ) and I know alliances had been always frowned upon; till this Sunday, I guess. Russia and DB were allright as long as they had been pouring dough. They have become “monsters” in this year’s competition!!!
The Swedish guy is not that handsome, tbh and his pop song was so average. So by using visual effects, Swedish PD turned their mediocre song into clip, that’s all! BTW, I’m Italian and I’ve been to both Cyprus and Greece since mio amore has been studing in a greek University. Not much of a change since we’re kind of similar…but Mediterranea runs in my veins, what can I do? πŸ™‚

    • May 25, 2015 at 8:47 pm — Reply

Italiaaaaaaaaa , we are neighbors. Many people from Cyprus study in Greece, I have many in my UNI. Cypriots usually choose to hang out, with other Cypriots, but they are nice. I get entertained when they speak, because they use the Greek language with a different dialect. Anna Maria, Greece’s singer for Eurovision, is from Cyprus. Last summer my parents loved an Italian drama that was on Greek tv “Raccontami”, I watched some episodes too, do you know it? You don’t have a blog?

Cypriotic accent is quite similar to the sicilian one (and the grecano, which is half italian half greek!). I’m having fun listening to our friends talking but I’m getting sooo confused when I’m still struggling with my vocabulary and grammar. It’s my fourth foreign language but without a proper teacher I’m doomed to make endless mistakes, I guess XD!
I know the greek singer is actually cypriot but my loved one says she’s “the ice queen”, that’s why she couldn’t get through the audience. I totally disagree; inho, the stage performance was directed by someone else who failed big time.
Our boys Il Volo have a huge fanbase all over the world and we were deeply disappointed by this outrageous manipulation. Anyway, I’m going to their concert next month to ease my suffering. I can recommend another show from RAI for your parents, if you like XD.
Sorry, no english blog. I have been writing my MBA’s thesis and that’s why I’m mostly using the university’s blog. When my torture’s over I’ll have time for more fun ( I pray!!!). Meanwhile, kdramas and telenovelas are my hobbies and part of my thesis… weird, right?
I have an english twitter,,,I’d love to hear from you, Hana-ssi!!!

        • May 26, 2015 at 9:32 pm — Reply

I don’t even understand cypriotic sometimes. The singer is an ice queen, but she did her best on the stage, it didn’t show. Yoyr boy’s voices was like from a CD. My parents can only watch shows with Greek subs. UNI is difficult. I have a “private” twitter account, abou kpop kdramas jpop jdrams movies and for whatever https://twitter.com/Mariloulini we can talk there^^

KSS-ssi, you’ve lost some great voices in Eurovision throughout the years. Here’s the 16-year-old Barbra Streisand from Cyprus. For a brief break from your academic obligations. I can totally relate…Fighting!

        • May 31, 2015 at 3:41 pm — Reply

I’m neither a fan of pop culture that much nor Eurovision ;D My only relation to pop is strictly k-pop/j-pop/t-pop oriented and it’s steadily evolving XP She’s got a good voice, but it’s not my type of thing :/ Fighting! These academic obligation will eat us alive 😑 Unless, somehow, we eat them first πŸ˜›

        May 31, 2015 at 4:44 pm — Reply

When you find the proper way to have your obligation eaten (dead or alive, I couldn’t care less!), please be kind to share! Bcoz i’m still in the dark, here πŸ˜‰
Well, Eurovision is not all that different from k-pop; the pop sound is there, less dancing in the recent years though , more artists performing their own songs and way (way!) less cosmetic surgeries than kpop artists (it’s not a must, you see), XD!

        • May 31, 2015 at 10:51 pm — Reply

IF i somehow manage to keep writing about dramas and pass the last 3 exams to get my degree at the same time, i will let you know XD
I get what you mean and the connections, but my only relation to pop is during parties XD i won’t listen to Euro-pop or US-pop at home, andwae, cholte andwae XP (always preferred more gothic rock, post punk, electro/industrial, etc tunes) The closest i ever got to pop was synth-pop with Depeche Mode, Melotron, De/Vision and such bands. My only true pop investment was made with the countries of the far East πŸ˜€ BUT i highly agree in the cosmetic surgery aspect XD

My new obsession is Sam Smith :-). British groups such as Depeche Mode are always on my playlist. American rock suits me a little better these days. One Republic is one of my favorites.

KSS-ssi, where did you get something so obscure from, lol? None of the people I asked knew this group. My dad, though, used to listen to artists with a somehow similar sound back in the 80’s, XD! It’s been a while since I’ve “discovered” smth completely new to me ( the last time was OMD-a british group) Thanks, chingu!

Hahaha XD Music is my second house, well, lately it has become the third one since dramas have taken over xP I guess your dad was listening to The Cure, Joy division, Bauhaus and such who formed the sound bands like The Frozen Autumn formed later on in the 90s/00s? Hope you enjoyed The Frozen Autum, when they last came here for a live show couldn’t attend because of exams :/ You’re always welcome! πŸ˜€

Yeeeeaaaahhh, for The Cure!! I’m searching the italian blogs based on my dad’s suggestion for smth equally obscure to suit your taste. It’ll be his gift to a fellow “weird”-music buff (mum’s motto) lol…
Too bad you and my dad can’t talk to each other! He just can’t find young people with similar musical interests so often…well, he never does actually! Mio povero padre!!! πŸ˜‰

          • June 8, 2015 at 10:09 pm

The Cure own, but i like their darkest moments! ^-^ I was lucky enough to see them once a few years ago πŸ˜€ Hahaha, can’t wait to find out what the gift will be for me the fellow “weird”-music buff XD Owned da motto xD I guess we’d talk about all these wonderful 80s bands and we’d even drink a beer to The Cramps’ tunes 8D Evviva!

Evviva la musica! My mum likes classical music more and some pop and EROS(of course!) Who can say no to EROS? It used to be my first love <<33

          • June 8, 2015 at 11:02 pm

Saluto la compagnia! My grandpa used to say this “evviva la musica saluto la compagnia!” πŸ˜€ Great version, Eros has a really great voice! One of my favorite Italian songs is this painful one, i have even sang it karaoke with my broken Italian at some friend gatherings xD

            June 9, 2015 at 7:14 am

Wow…was your grandpa an italian?? It’s a common thing for us to say in the southern of the country XD! Glad you like Eros…finally, a common ground (and Adriano is a big plus, too) πŸ˜‰

          • June 9, 2015 at 3:35 pm

Nope, but him and others had hidden Italian soldiers that didn’t want to fight that senseless war during WWII and there was a friendly vibe between them so he learned many phrases and even became post-war friends! Grandpa always talked with love about Italian people! Thanks for reminding me that phrase through evviva la musica, had nearly forgotten it πŸ™‚ Aye, Adriano is a big plus and Eros a common ground!

I’ve been always saying that Italians were born to sing (but it’s sometimes sounded biased, I wonder why? πŸ˜‰ ) and Greeks are meant to be scientists because they have the language and the passion, too!
This is a beautiful and melancholic song about Sicilians leaving their mother land! Spero que ti piacca, chingu!

          • June 10, 2015 at 10:30 am

Aye, biased or not that’s okay and it’s the truth!! πŸ˜€ I don’t know about other Greeks, i wasn’t born to be a scientist XD Of course i like it, bella canzone and melancholic too ;D

Love his melancholic songs! Haha, you might have already noticed by now that i emphasize on “melancholic” when it comes to music XD It’s the feels factor everywhere πŸ˜› Aye, unique voice! I guess it was a 15degrees bow the Korean way XD *bows slightly as well in response*
