The Greatest Wedding ep – 16 , finale review

Concluding the journey “The Greatest Wedding” was ,I  have to say , it was the most interesting drama , of this year , in my opinion. It might not have been a masterpiece or a drama that’s gonna full you with emotions. But its something new and daring that if you haven’t watched , I think its worth your time.

-contains spoilers-

Hmmm , What can I write about , Greatest’s Marriage last episode other than how rushed was it ? At the ending scene , I was thinking do we get an episode 17 , or is that it?
Really the plot was developing so good and I started liking where the writers , were going for an ending but then I looked at the sidebar and there were 4 minutes left and the end.

Things that I liked about the last episode. Although I can’t forgive Tae yeon‘s stupid behaviour throughout the drama , finally even at the last minute , he becomes somewhat of a human and makes peace with Gi young. If I were her , I would probably never forgive him , but since she has to be the one to think of her child’s happiness first , I understand how she let go of the hate and becomes the better person.Myung Yi turns from the evil bitch to the kind fairy.
When the drama started , I was the one to support Myung Yi, since I shipped her with Tae yeon. But they made her , do despicable things which , I though there was no way they could turn around . But getting a phone call from her parents made her realise what really mattered,I guess.

Since I’m talking about Myung Yi, what a terrible man Tae yeon was to her? I know their marriage was all about the contract . But really , she miscarried because of his family and then she spent 4 years of mistreatment , because she had nowhere else to go . That’s not a good enough reason to act all crazy and kidnap a kid. But she really loved Tae yeon , I think she could see the family she lost in his eyes .But when she was saying goodbye , Tae Yeon wasn’t even looking at her, it’s not like she got pregnant alone in the first place . You should be careful where you put your sign or else take responsibility.

Anyway Jo Eun Cha got elected , that’s a good thing since he finally came to his senses and got rid of his selfish character . He even get to be on women’s side although he was the one treating Gi Young as an animal in the first episodes, well moral of the story people change.
But what about him and Gi young , didn’t they agree in the beginning of the episode to get married ? Or did the writers forget about that ?
The same goes for Bae Du Ro and Sun Nyeo , we never get an ending for them , yes he went to her father and asked the permission to marry her but then Dan’s vomiting cuts in and we never know what happened . Also they leave us with the impression , that Bae Du Ro marries her for her success but I think there were more to this story we didn’t get.

Not gonna talk about the Gi young’s friend situation , getting back with her cheating husband and then the two of them , meeting her ex boyfriend , while the last one is on the phone , congratulating their daughter for getting her period , all I can say is LOL .
I was sad , I didn’t get a miserable ending for Tae yeon’s parents , really why kdrama justice didn’t get them ? Losing all their money , going to jail , choking while their eating fruits Myung Yi cut for them , so many choices but nothing.Gi Young , is the reason I never gave up on the drama. Although I didn’t love her character , till the end , she had a strong mature character I admired . Even if she acted a bit immature at some points , it was still with a reason , since sha has been through so much.

But about the real ending , I have to say even “Surplus Princess” , that was cut to 11 episodes had a less rushed ending than this.
I mean Dan , who has already changed 1000 mothers and dads , end up with his real mom and his two dads ? How messed up is that.He wished for his dad to come back , but in the end he gets two . Santa was large this time 😛
I wonder what traumas are all these gonna leave this child . At least his mom has her job back and they wont have to starve .

Anyway as I said in the beginning , The “Greatest Wedding ” isn’t one of the drama I usually watch , but I’m glad I did . It was interesting , had great acting and touched subjects that needed to be touched , especially for the patriarchal communities.
8/10 from me
I really wished , for a better ending but we can’t have everything in this life.
What are your thoughts , of the last episode?

I’m kinda dissapointed of the last minutes, dan is end up with his real mom and two dad. The writer should tells us who married gi young in the end. It will be a happy ending if gi young married tae yeon. So i made a supposition that they’re married and live happily ever after.

when they are walking all together (dan, Eun Cha, gi young and Tae yeon) you can see that gi young is holding hands with tae yeon so i think that she ended up with him. But that is only my theory

I don’t know maybe it was just coincedence, if the writer wanted them to end up together, he would make it clear.

I have just watched this series. I am from England and I found it educational to have an insight about cultures from Asia especially around their view on shame. Whilst I found moments of the series a bit over the top (the constant crying from everyone and shouting), overall it was moving. At one point I thought Gi Young was going to commit suicide. I agree with the reviewer of this artcle, the last part of the story was rushed. I had hoped that this was because there would be a series 2, but alas no luck.
