Nigeru wa Haji da ga Yaku ni Tatsu Episode 7 Recap
Recap – Summary : Hiramasa is embarrassed after the kiss, and makes a quick escape while Mikuri wonders what his gesture really meant.
Hiramasa feels mortified that he got carried away, while Mikuri is confused as ever, but both of them do not bring up this matter again; they return to their usual routine, all the while thinking about what happened in the train.
While working at Kazami’s, Mikuri slips that something happened between Hiramasa and her, but is not sure how to perceive it; Kazami tries to make a move at her to no avail and later, Kazami talks to Yuri, how he can’t win, because women thinks he’s a womanizer and can’t be taken seriously. Yuri talks that she was once popular like this too, and they end up jokingly-bicker before they’re off to work.
Takenaka talks about his wife’s birthday, which prompts Hiramasa to realize that he forgot about Mikuri’s birthday; he gives a call to her parents to ask them what would Mikuri like but they both babble about Mikuri’s first pet, without helping him; after Hiramasa tries all day to decide what would be good for Mikuri, he settles in giving her money, to buy a gift for her, as the safe choice.
Before they’re ready to sleep, Mikuri texts Hiramasa and asks him why he kissed her; he replies with an apology, something that doesn’t satisfy Mikuri who texts him back that she didn’t mind. They both agree to take care of each other, and Hiramasa is happy to read Mikuri’s last text, that adds a “forever” after their mutual wish.
Hiramasa feels happy that is being received well by Mikuri, and decides to go with the flow, even browsing online on the right occassion to kiss somebody; Mikuri is also happy that Hiramasa is in a good mood, but can’t help but wonder if she should let herself fall in love with him.
Numata overhears two of his colleagues talking about something that will take place in their company soon, while Horiuchi tells Yuri that she had had a tough time, of coming back to Japan after she was in America, as she feels out of her depth; she promises to try hard to become better at her job, while Umehara says he will cheer for her.
Yuri talks with Mikuri about her night out with them, and concludes that it’s nice that work connects people; Mikuri notes that she would too, like a job such as this – a job where she will earn and give her respect to others.
Mikuri returns at the apartment, and she tells Hiramasa to try the wine Yuri gave her as a gift- as they both relax, Mikuri thanks Hiramasa for hiring her, as her job gives her happiness, something Hiramasa shares. Mikuri wants to confess to him that she likes him, but finds herself unable to put her feelings into words, so she leans into him instead. Hiramasa is reluctant at first, but he catches up with her and they kiss. Mikuri is ready to go all the way, but Hiramasa freaks out and yells that he can’t be doing this kind of stuff. Mikuri replies that it’s alright, but when she steps away, she wishes there was a hole for her to hide, thinking the best solution is to leave the apartment.
Reflection Corner :
“okay, Hiramasa, you can do it..touch her hands, you won’t get electrocuted pal! there, there, ohhhh KISS INCOMING, YES YOU GO AMIGO! ohh, Mikuri gives you an opening, take it, TAKEEEEE IT. ahhhh…HUH. WHAT. YOU TURNING HER DOWN LIKE THIS…oh boy, oh shit.”
From paradise, to hell, in few seconds!
To his credit, Hiramasa has taken huge steps towards opening himself, and let Mikuri in; he did come to terms with the fact he actually likes her, but he’s still unsure of how to approach her. I mean, direct-hit is not his style anyway yet when Mikuri assured him in a gentle manner, that it’s okay, he ran away like hell! (title and all!)
He’s obviously not comfortable “doing the deed”, considering he hasn’t hugged or kissed someone until very recently, but did he have to be so abrupt? Then again, if he didn’t act like a scaredy, wet, cat, it wouldn’t be him so yeah. It’s not only about the physical intimacy, it’s more about committing in a relationship and overstepping the boundaries of the work-relationship, so this whole deal scaring the bejesus out of him makes sense.
It also makes sense for Mikuri to take it as a huge rejection-blow though, especially the way this whole scene played out; she probably thinks that Hiramasa is only following her lead, because he’s kind, while that is far from the truth and just…YOU GUYS NEED TO FUCKING TALK AND COMMUNICATE MORE OKAY. You’re both number 1 and 2 and 3 and 4 and 5 and 6 and 7 and 8 and 9 and 10 in each other’s “Best Ten” hearts! Say it or sing it to each other, works either way!
“They’re a handful, but I realized they’re good kids. You see, work is all about connecting person with person. That’s what it comes down to, in the end.”
I liked Mikuri and Yuri’s talk about how the working environment, eventually becomes a place for connecting with people- can we apply the theory to practice soon, then? I sure hope so!
Onwards to episode 8 then!
