Suizokukan Girl Episode 6 Review
Chief Kurano assumes the position of the best Santa-san ever.
And boy did he pass with flying colors!
What a lovely episode, emphasizing the importance of silent perseverance that gets rewarded in the end.
We got to find out about Kurano’s past, and his family struggles of the present; it was sort of ironic, how Kurano found solace in working with animals, but that same job caused problems in his household. It was nice to see his wife and daughter understanding that while money is important (damn you monnieeees, always causing problems!), doing what you love and working hard for other people’s enjoyment, is a far greater achievement. (btw, when Kurano pawned those “toughies”, I noticed that the tattoo of the younger guy resembled Sasuke’s cursed seal, trolol)
“Even at rock bottom, someone will lend a helping hand. That’s why people are able to look ahead. That’s what gives us the strength to move forward. However hard things are now, I want to believe we’ll smile tomorrow. If we believe it, a day will come when we smile.”
It was revealed why Shima’s father detests sea and everything that has to do with it- I get how his sentiments are negative, considering his father neglected him in favor of studying oceanology but…Shima-papa, impulse control pal! Don’t go around grabbing people by their collars every time you’re pissed!
I don’t know if it’s too late for him to reconcile with his father, but I’m looking forward to see how this will resolve in the finale.
So Shima was born to be a Hamakaze keeper afterall, and what a darn good job is doing at that.
I think her mother’s description about how Shima is at times blunt and outspoken but always willing to help others, traits which make other people like her, was spot on. Shark-man fell under that honest-spell too but…why you leaving for South Africa when you’re both so close brah??!! Will he change his mind somehow (even though he seemed pretty set in that decision) or will he ask Shima to wait for him? Another question to be answered in the finale.
Btw, how lol-worthy was that Kaji said to Shima “your dad told me to keep your hands off you” and the next scene where Shima slips, his hands are all onto her, haha.
And the last most important question to be answered in the final episode is of course: IMADA GO GET YOUR GURL, KAY?
What a wonderful guy Imada is- asking Yagami to do him a solid, which includes begging him to go out with the girl he actually likes?! (whut-lol. he did take it a bit too far though!) I hope Kumiko in the end will get to give a chance to Imada; and if not, well, there’s a great friendship to be had here right…screw that, I want both Kaji/Shima and Imada/Kumiko as endgames lol.
Onwards to episode 7 then!
p.s I think my favorite line from Suizokukan Girl will be “people that are fascinated by nature, are demons!” I couldn’t stop loling at that.
