Sekai Ichi Muzukashii Koi Episode 1 First Look

I think it’s safe to say that pretty much all of us have our “guilty pleasure” shows- where we enjoy something despite its many flaws for some odd reason. (aka Ohno’s smiley face!)

So the story is rather simple- Samejima (Ohno Satoshi) is the uptight president of a prestigious hotel chain and one day he crosses paths with Shibayama (Haru) and falls in love at first sight; from then on, he starts seeing things in a more positive light.

That’s it, that is what the show is gonna be about lol.

Honestly, it was a so-so first episode, that felt draggy at times and boring. Obviously, it doesn’t help that Samejima is a huge manchild, that is spoiled, bratty, fires people for non-sensical reasons and generally epitomizes everything that makes you NOT root for the main character; and that is a problem, when you find yourself not caring to empathize at all with the main lead. (Ohno does a great job though, he reads GRUMPYYYY MASTER all the time!)

However, after the dreary first part of the episode, there is some silver lining and that is OHNO’S SMILEY FACE. (lol no jk jk) Well, I mean it was sort of nice seeing Samejima trying to get Shibayama’s attention with milk and making an effort to actually do something that won’t make him come off as an asshole for one, so yeah.

Shibayama is honest (should have given him MORE HELL about his knack of firing people, but at least someone spoke up!) and carefree, but has some past connection with an ex lover from Belgium that seems to drag her down; she’s all cheered up when she drinks milk or sees other people drinking milk though lol. (GOT MILK? it could be an alternative title for the series)

Other characters include Samejima’s faithful secretary that puts up with his antics, Wada, his “archenemy” as he owns the rival hotel chain that is currently number 1 in country, and the order of employees that are scared of him and his mood swings.

It seems like the angle of the show is gonna be along the lines “love changes everything!!11” except..the in-love-at-first-sight of Samejima felt a bit off (the plot says that Shibayama was his first love though? it didn’t seem like that in the premiere?) but if the show maintains its humour and Samejima starts changing for the better (and STOP FIRING PEOPLE) we’ve got something in here.

Every season I got my guilty pleasure show- most recently, last year’s Fall Season it was 5-ji Kara, this Winter’s season it was DameKoi, it seems like Sekamuzu will be Spring’s one! Hopefully it will develop into something more than only ‘miring Ohno’s puppy face! One thing’s for sure; it is gonna be a difficult romance!

Onwards to episode 2 then- Samejima more smiles and less frowning please!

"There's nothing greater in life than loving another; it leads to love for your fellow people, your country..and the whole world."

I'm pretty outgoing from what I've been told; unless, you bad-mouth Ayase. Or Gakky. Or Ueto. Or Tori. Or Masaki. Or Kame. Hmmm, the or-thing is actually endless! You get the gist of it, right? ; p

Guilty pleasure shows, eh? I watched Yowakutemo Katemasu(a draggy baseball show) for Ninomiya Kazunari. The premise was quite promising plus I have a soft spot for baseball. But the pace was too slow and only picked up by the end and the execution, so-so. I was only watching for Nino(he’s such a cutie especially in baseball uniform).

Now, I’m kinda into Arashi. Maybe, I’ll check this out later. Probably for Ohno lol.

I know that feeling very well! It’s like you /know/ it’s bad but there’s always something that brings you back – though in this case, it was still the first episode and it wasn’t /that/ bad, so there’s definitely room for improvement.

Ohno plays the grumpy asshole-ish yet somehow redeemable (?) Samejima, so that’s definitely one reason to watch haha

Yeah, this drama is cute ^^ Not very interesting, it’s very predictable but I like the main character, he doesn’t seem tough at all lol (in his attitude and way of looking at people) He looks so sweet even though his manners suck.

I’ve watched part of the 1st episode of “Watashi wa kekkon dekinain janakute, shinain desu” and I don’t feel it (same for the characters)… so “Sekai Ichi Mizukashii Koi” will be my main Jdrama of this season 🙂

lool I wouldn’t call him sweet as of now but it seems like /love/ will make him all saccharine-ish haha

I haven’t watched Watashi Kekkon and not sure I will- my schedule is full atm so yeah.

I was talking about the actor… he comes off “sweet” to me, not tough, despite his character being an immature jerk, I know that ^^ This actor is a bit amusing to me, unlike other actors who look stiff and cold. I don’t know him, never seen his other dramas or I don’t remember, so I don’t know if it’s becasue of his bad or decent acting.

Ahh okay, got it- lol you do have a point, it’s the Ohno effect; he can never look mean, more like a grumpy puppy instead of the /bad/ one he’s supposed to be haha (he’s quite decent as an actor actually)
