Descendants of the Sun ~ Expectations / Preview ~ Dramajjang
“I solemnly swear,
I’ll devote my life to serving human beings.
Regardless of their race, religion, nationality or social status
I’ll carry out my duty to my patients.”
Honestly? I don’t really know what to expect or how it will flow plot-wise, but i want Descendants of the Sun to be decent and captivating in its own way to say the least. There is only one major reason i intend to watch it no matter what, Song Hye Kyo. I am emotionally attached to her as she was the female leading figure of the first Korean drama i ever watched, Autumn in my Heart. Her acting skills, austere beauty and refined cuteness are an axiom and possible negative points of view can’t even reach her, so don’t even try, you’re wasting your time in front of her eloquent grandeur.
It’s quite hilarious seeing that Song Joong Ki’s first role after being discharged from the army is military-oriented and i am pretty certain that countless numbers of female drama addicts are impatiently waiting for him to appear on screen for their eyes only! I can only look forward to his chemistry with Song Hye Kyo and the trailers/teasers have delivered all the necessary vibes that make this couple an aircraft carrier, not just a ship. I am curious to find out how the drama will work on its humanitarian aspects and the dire situations our characters will find themselves in. The melodrama factor is going to be immense and i am looking forward to all these precious drama tears amid feels and humor.
One humble apocalypse has to be Kim Ji Won’s presence here. I loved her acting and character in Gap Dong and i can’t wait to see her in a completely different role here! I recently enjoyed Jin Goo’s powerful performance in Northern Limit Line and along with Kim Ji Won they’re going to be the second combo my eyes are craving to treasure along with the majestic main couple! As for all these military side-“oppas,” i hope they’ll do a good job in presenting their figures, but other than that they won’t bother me that much unless powerful acting skills will start surfacing here and there!
Among the remaining female actresses i will have to make a special reference to three of them. Seo Jung Yeon was astonishing in Heard It Through the Grapevine and i can’t wait for her to unveil her quirky or more serious attitude here as well. I loved Hyun Jyu Ni’s tomboyish roles in Sky and Ocean and Love 911 and for some reason i can’t really decipher Jeon Soo Jin always pulls me closer to her and you have to blame School 2013 and Emergency Couple for this.
One more reason has to be the fact that a part of the filming took place in Greece. The scenery in the first picture below is from Arachova (Αράχωβα), but based on the teasers/trailers there was also a scene of a boat heading towards Navagio (Ναυάγιο – meaning Shipwreck) beach which can be found at Zakynthos (Ζάκυνθος) island’s northwest part and one can only approach it by boat/ship. The fact that Descendants of the Sun was pre-produced is an encouraging hint since we are already aware that live-shooting is an exhausting procedure with a limited time schedule and absolute deadlines, not only for our favorite actors and actresses, but for everyone playing his/her own part in the overall outcome.
I am more than ready and i hope that everything will flow according to plan, whatever that plan may be as long as it’s going to be a good one! The main cast can’t disappoint and everything points towards the direction that the cinematography is going to be highly representative of the drama’s demands. The storyline will have Descendants of the Sun’s last word and i hope that it won’t lead it at dramaland’s courthouse.
