Please Love The Useless Me ダメな私に恋してください Episode 1 Review /1st Glance
ダメな私に恋してください Damekoi 01 Summary : Michio Sibata is broke, has no job, her boyfriend scams her savings out constantly and reaches the desperation point of trying to steal a cat’s canned food! Upon seeing that, her former boss Ayumu gives her a part-time job in the tearoom he’s about to open.
That was a weird sort of episode for me; for the first half, I got the (not good!) vibes I used to get when I was watching the first episodes of 5-ji-Kara, but I started liking it near the end. I am not sure if it was the pace or the fact that Michio’s behavior reached UNLIMITED ARTLESS LEVELS, but yeah, the first half did a really good job of portraying the main heroine in a negative light; Michio is as gullible as it gets, naive, silly and falls for every trick her younger “boyfriend” can think of-the worse is that she’s willing to get into dangerous situations to satisfy his needs (or should I say her needs of not wanting to end up deceived) so I felt a tad frustrated at some point.
However, her redeeming quality, is that she knows that she’s simple-minded and in the end she seemed to work to become someone that others won’t take advantage of easily, so that was quite nice to see.
Ayumu on the other hand, is strong-willed and determined to make his new store successful after being fed up being a businessman; the constant pressure has turned him into someone he disliked, so he now wants to settle down in a calmer environment and rejoice in his cooking artistry! (damn that omelette-rice looked deliciously unreal!)
I guess it was a bit “hmmmehh” how he took Michio under his wings that fast but I suppose he felt bad for yelling at her constantly in his previous job. (then again, lol when you see someone ready to eat cat canned food, I don’t think you need to consider helping them twice!)
Ayumu’s gangster friends (I can’t with Terui lol, I keep thinking of Suzuki’s role in Gomenne Seishun as the upright boys president and the contrast makes me loool!) were pretty hilarious in their synchronization so was Akira in her drunken speech and her stares of “DON’T FALL FOR IT DUDE” when Michio was ready to crumble under Junta’s spell in the end. Miura Shohei’s character didn’t appear a lot but seems to be a decent guy, so there’s gonna be a love…rectangle along with the flower lady and everyone else.
There’s definitely room for improvement so I’m looking forward to what’s in the store for the next episodes. Onwards to episode 2 then!
