Death Note ~ episode 4 ~ review

Hello DramajjangersDeath_Note_(Japanese_Drama)-p1

This week another interesting episode of “Death Note” arrived.

contains spoilers

We were left, at the bit odd death of the FBI agent Mark Dwellton, who was following Light and was killed by Misa, using her Shinigami eyes, to secretly save Light. When I say odd, I mean it really didn’t make sense to me how, he was all alone and he didn’t have any backup. Maybe I got confused, since I have to admit “Death Note” is very clever (the movies the anime and the manga) and sometimes I’m left behind. But how he was killed, then only detective Yagami came alone to the death scene, plus the accident happened when he was following Light but they didn’t pay much attention to it, seemed like a plot hole.

Anyway it didn’t bother me that much. On this episode Light is worried, because more suspicions are on him, so he writes down some names before hand, in case he can’t reach the death note for a while. He does well, since L installs cameras to his house and to another detective’s house because he suspects the family members. Of course they are both geniuses and Light with his door trick realises people have been in the house and now he s being watched. Light does the trick because he is not only worried about the police searching the house but the second Kira too. He wants to find out who the second Kira is, now he is determined a second death note is out there. The investigation team keeps monitoring them but the only thing they get is Light reading “magazines like that”. Light knows how to act normal.

Light has to kill people that their names are announced through tv or network, at the time he is being watched, that way they wont suspect him anymore. He uses a bag of chips to hide a monitor and do his job. L is watching him closely and waits for the mistake he suspects the bag but he can’t prove something. When detective Yagami asks him why he is biased towards Light. He mentions the incident when the detective was a hostage and how the criminal got a heart attack. He assumes Kira killed in order to protect someone precious to him and that day he was born. L steps up his game and decides to go to Light’s university, he goes there and offers him a bag of chips. Light is shocked and not sure if he really has L in front of him.

L challenges Light to a tennis game, he says if he looses he will tell him his name, but if he doesn’t Light will grand him a favor. Light wins but L tells him, his true name is the same as an idol’s. He says his wish is for them to be friends. He still suspects him as Kira but Light denies it. When L gets back to the investigation, he finds out suspicious kills have happened with a new target level. It’s Misa trying to send a message to Light, that she wants the same things as him, she even sends a letter to a tv station and kills the officer from te press conference. That frustrates Light who doesn’t want that much attention on Kira. Misa visits his house and being her usual obvious self she starts talking about the colours of the death notes, Light is caught of guard that Misa Misa has appeared at his house, his sister tells her to go to his room. L who has been watching the conversation gets suspicious, especially when Light after Misa makes him touch her death note looks at Rem, that doesn’t appear on camera.

The teaser of the next episode seems exciting and as the episodes goes things get more intence.

I noticed Kento Yamazaki’s acting has been improving and if they didn’t put him so much lip gloss I could focus more on his L’s expressions. Hinako Sano is doing a decent job too. I wont mention how Masataka Kubota is great, I said it in the first impretion and he keeps doing an amazing job.

What are your thoughts on the “Death Note” drama, until now?

I thought about it too, but you’ll be surprised especially with Masataka Kubota.
